Another thought I had was regarding prayer. It comes easy for some. Sometimes, a spontaneous blessing pours out of me like a warm breath on a winter’s day. Inside, I genuinely believe. But other than those special moments, I wonder if I am not dead inside, needing hope, joy, purpose, and a lifeline before I forget how to pray.

I collect quilts. I have an antique quilt signed by the artists who designed it. It reminds me of the quilting circles of my grandmother’s day. Grandma Duggan and her sister, Ruby, would gather with friends to create beautiful patterns. It was Grandma’s passion.

So much of life is collective. We forget we are not alone. Remind yourself today. When you touch something, another person has been there before you. If you have an old quilt, pull it around you. Was this a quilting circle’s work?
